This 20hr TCTSY Foundation Workshop will introduce you to the foundations, core concepts and applications of the highly regarded, evidence-based yoga intervention - Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) for adults and youth affected by PTSD, CPTSD, developmental, and/or complex trauma.  Developed at the Trauma Center since 2003, a part of Justice Resource Institute JRI since 2006 and the flagship program of the Center for Trauma and Embodiment at JRI.

This workshop is interactive and is intended to inspire yoga teachers to make their classes more trauma-informed and to support those working in the mental health field to bring the body into treatment when working with people affected by PTSD, developmental, and/or complex trauma.  You will be introduced  to specific practices and principles to support you to facilitate movement and breath work that is trauma informed, including an introduction to:
  • Trauma Theory, Attachment Theory & Neuroscience (Interoceptive Theory)
  • Neurophysiology & Biology of Stress and Trauma (and how trauma impacts the brain)
  • Spectrum of Trauma Impacts and Complex Trauma as Lived Experience
  • Power and Oppression
  • Key Elements of TCTSY Methodology
  • Building Trauma Sensitive Relationships
  • TCTSY Practice and Practice Facilitation
  • Challenges in Implementing TCTSY
  • Overview of Studies on TCTSY

You will receive:

  2. PowerPoint slides, written resources and links
  3. Over 6 hours pre-recorded pre and mid workshop content including TCTSY practice videos from TCTSY Trainers and Supervisors and training videos from David Emerson and Jenn Turner
  4. 12.5 hours of a LIVE ONLINE workshop delivered over 2.5 days (Australian Eastern Standard Day Light Savings Time):
Day 1: Saturday 1:30-4pm
Day 2: Sunday  9.30am -12pm, 1.30-4pm
Day 3: Sunday  9.30am -12pm, 1.30-4pm

IN-PERSON DELIVERY:
An exciting learning experience including both pre-recorded and in-person learning.
You will receive:

  4. 12.5 hours of a IN-PERSON workshop delivered over 2 days (approximately 9.30am to 5.30pm each day)

The payment scale is based on your self-determined access to resources, privilege, social capital, and your current financial situation due to the global pandemic
Sufficient access to social capital: $495 AUD
Adequate access to social capital: $445 AUD

These workshops are facilitated by TCTSY JRI Licensed Trainers and are part of The Center of Trauma & Embodiment at JRI Yoga Program, and therefore is an official Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Workshop/trainings accredited by JRI & the Director of the Center for Trauma & Embodiment at JRI David Emerson.

PLEASE NOTE: 
THIS WORKSHOP SATISFIES ONE OF THE PRE-REQUISITES TO APPLY FOR THE 300-HOUR TRAUMA CENTER TRAUMA-SENSITIVE YOGA (TCTSY) CERTIFICATION PROGRAM HELD ANNUALLY LIVE ONLINE AND PRE-RECORDED ONLINE FROM SEPTEMBER TO APRIL.

THIS 20HR WORKSHOP PROVIDES IAYT AND YA MEMBERS CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS OF 18HRS AND 20HRS RESPECTIVELY AND CREDITS MAY ALSO BE AVAILABLE WITH OTHER PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION BODIES.

THIS WORKSHOP IS SOLELY FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND IS NOT A CERTIFICATE PROGRAM - TO BE CERTIFIED IN TCTSY COMPLETION OF THE 300HR TCTSY CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED.
THIS WORKSHOP IS NOT INTENDED AS AN INTERVENTION FOR THOSE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED TRAUMA. TALKING ABOUT TRAUMA, EVEN IN THE CONTEXT OF A PROFESSIONAL TRAINING CAN BE TRIGGERING/OVERWHELMING.
